Matarangi Beachcare Group
The Matarangi Dune Restoration Group was set up in 2023 with a sole focus on dune restoration and welcomes more members. Coastal erosion from La Niña weather events has removed significant dune meterage and changed the dune profile at Matarangi. Having recently established, the group is trying to raise their profile, increase their knowledge of dune restoration and increase their number of volunteers, all while carefully navigating the various viewpoints within the community regarding dune restoration.

- 3 Coastcare events - 2699 plants; 48 volunteers; 96 volunteer hours.
